I wish to highlight a misleading piece of communication from Emirates NBD, as they are not honouring their offer for 10 per cent cashback on my debit card spend for the period of March 1 to April 30. I spent Dh1,000 on my card on April 14.

I should have received a credit of Dh100 on June 15 for the above spend, as per the terms of the offer. But the bank is denying the cashback, saying I should have spent a minimum of Dh200 per month and not on a one-time spend, during the period of the offer.

I believe this is totally falsifying the terms of the offer and misleading customers to spend on their debit cards. I request Gulf News to make the general public aware of such ambiguities and warn them about such bank offers.

The management of Emirates NBD responds:

We are pleased to inform you that our Group Customer Experience team has been in touch with Ms Prakash and the matter has been resolved to her satisfaction.

We would like to clarify that the customer had enrolled in the Emirates NBD Debit Card 10 per cent Cash Back Campaign, which was valid from March 1 to April 30, 2017. One of the requirements as per the Terms and Conditions was to spend a minimum of Dh200 during each month of the promotion period, which the customer did not, hence she is not eligible for 10 per cent cash back. The Terms and Conditions are available on the bank’s website as well through the call centre.

However, as a service gesture and in appreciation of the customer’s relationship, the bank will provide 10 per cent cash back to Ms Prakash on an exceptional basis.

We would like to reiterate our commitment to providing superior service to our customers and thank you for your continuous support in providing us with the opportunity to resolve their issues.
