Unwelcome bank charges

I am very eager to ask Gulf News for assistance to resolve my issues with First Gulf Bank (FGB). I have had an FGB credit card for the past three years. I got the card from their agent, who approached us with a credit card that did not have any added charges and was free-for-life — so involved no annual fee.

Later, I got an email from FGB, stating I had to pay an annual membership fee of Dh250 in April. At that time, I wasn’t in the country. Again in May, I received a bill for late payment of Dh250 and the total amount on the bill was Dh510. I called customer care and asked them how it was possible that I had received such a high bill? I requested them to cancel the annual membership fee and penalties. The operator said I should receive a call within six working days, with a solution for my complaint.

But to date, I never got an answer from them. My other due date is coming up (June 15) wherein they would add another Dh250 to the existing balance, and now the total outstanding balance would go up to Dh760. This will go on and on every month, if FGB doesn’t waive the charges.

I am upset because of this issue.
