I have been a customer of United Arab Bank (UAB) for over one year, and have a personal loan that I have been maintaining since December 2014. I never missed any payments and my relationship with the bank is excellent.

However, in March 2016, I changed jobs and provided the bank with a copy of my new visa, passport and salary transfer letter.

It has now been over seven days and my final settlement is still on hold. They haven’t confirmed whether they will release the amount or not — all they said is that it is under management approval.

Due to my working hours, I do not have the opportunity to visit the branch to get another update as I have already visited them three times last week, with no luck.

It is quite infuriating as I am responsible for the welfare of over 1,000 members of staff and I wouldn’t wish for any of them to face the same challenges that I am currently facing.

Can Gulf News assist me in resolving this matter?

From Mr Mohammad Miah

The management of UAB responds:

Thank you for contacting United Arab Bank to solve the complaint raised by Mr Miah. We would like to inform you that after investigating the matter, the said amount that was put on hold was based on the bank’s policy; the account holder has a loan with UAB and has lately changed his job. Accordingly, we requested a few documents related to his new employer, in order to release the amount. We have received the documents requested and have subsequently released the funds. At United Arab Bank, we always strive to serve and support our customers while abiding by our processes and regulations.
