Charged for nothing

Recently I got a new du phone after a demonstration organised by du in our company premises. However, I have gotten an SMS saying that du has served me with a legal notice, as I have an outstanding balance of Dh4,000.

Furthermore, I am getting text messages from different banks, stating that I owe a lot of money for their credit cards. I wrote to du’s customer care and they said they would come back to me, which has not yet happened.

From Mr Aamir Shafi Dalal, Dubai

A spokesperson from du responds:

In response to Mr Dalal’s query, we investigated and found that the number he is using was previously owned by a different customer, who deactivated his line without settling all pending bills. The number was then recycled by us and purchased later by Mr Dalal. The number has now been removed from the collections list and the case is closed.

Mr Dalal responds:

Thanks Gulf News. I hope the issue is resolved!
