I am a credit card holder of Emirates NBD. On February 11, I received a message from the department that deals with cases of fraud, at Emirates NBD. They said my card had been blocked because a fraudulent transaction of $960 (Dh3,526) had been swiped in the US. I have forwarded my passport photocopy and the dispute form to them and informed them that I don’t have a US visa and have never been to the US in my life. How is it possible that payment was made in the US? Now, they are asking me to clear this payment at approximately Dh3,500, otherwise I will be charged for interest.

Kindly look into this matter. I need Gulf News’ help. They are saying they need 60 to 90 days to clear this matter and there is no guarantee that if I pay them now, they will refund the amount later. Please do something for me.

From Ms Silky Mer, Sharjah

The management of Emirates NBD responds:

We are pleased to inform you that our Group Customer Experience team has been in touch with Ms Mer and resolved the matter to her satisfaction.

We wish to clarify that Ms Mer was informed to pay the total outstanding balance of the credit card including the disputed amount in order to avoid interest charges. Furthermore, we wish to confirm that the disputed amount will be refunded temporarily to Ms Mer’s current account for her financial convenience while the dispute process is ongoing.

We would like to thank you for your continuous support in offering us the opportunity to further assist our valued customers.
