I have been facing many issues ever since I was given a credit card from Dubai First. When I applied for the card, I did not apply for the ‘cash in advance’ facility, yet was given Dh118,000. Then, I spoke with bank officials and told them that I never wanted the cash.

However, after their request, I agreed for a loan of Dh50,000. They told me to return the extra amount and I returned it to them immediately. The statements from May and June 2014 have the transaction details of money I received and the Dh68,000 I returned to them.

I then transferred the loan of Dh50,000 to Mashreq Bank as Dubai First was charging me some extra amounts such as credit shield and so on. Yet, in my online statements, the monthly equated monthly instalment (EMI) amount continued to add up.

When I called the bank’s customer care number to cancel my card, they told me that as I have a loan, I can’t cancel the card.

I called Dubai First many times and every time, they told me not to worry and they would fix the issue within three to four days. I also sent them an email but did not get any response. I would be really grateful if Gulf News could help me in resolving this issue.
