Credit card cancellation

I have a FGB credit card, which I have not used. I tried cancelling it many times, but the customer service officials always made up some ruse to get me to extend my usage of the card. They had mentioned the card was free for life but they still charged me. When I asked why I was being charged, they said they would look into the matter and then reversed the annual charge. I told them I had no use for the card, as I had never swiped it for three years, and so, I asked them to cancel it. Finally, they said they would do so. Initially, I had instructed them not to renew the card, but they issued the card to me without my consent. Now, when I instructed FGB to cancel the card, they are giving me excuses and not responding. All I want is for them to cancel the card and process the required formalities.

From Mr Nithin Chandran

Dubai

The management of FGB responds:

FGB is grateful for all customer feedback to which we give careful consideration as we strive to consistently deliver the highest standards of service. The bank has been in contact with Mr Chandran, and the matter has been resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Mr Chandran responds:

I have got an SMS from FGB stating that my card has been cancelled. I hope that is the end of the dealings. Thank you, Gulf News.
