Charged for freebie

I am an FGB credit card holder.

Last week, someone called from FGB and told me about an offer. They said, since I am a regular customer and paying the requisite amount correctly, the bank has decided to give me insurance, without any extra charges. So, I agreed to it.

Then, one Friday, I found approximately Dh350 deducted from my credit card. I got an answer from FGB’s call centre, that the amount was for that particular insurance. So I logged a complaint at the same, regarding this.

Later, FGB informed me that the amount would be reversed. But it would take a minimum of 45 days.

It means I would need to pay for this month and the next month — only then would they reverse it again. I need my balance now, though.

Please assist me in this matter.

The management of FGB responds:

FGB is grateful for all customer feedback to which we give careful consideration as we strive to consistently deliver the highest standards of service. The bank has been in contact with Mr Palanichamy, and informed him that the insurance policy has been cancelled and the charges have been reversed.

Mr Palanichamy responds:

The complaint has still not been resolved. It is better for FGB to return my balance now, instead of dragging this on. I am getting the same response from them — that the money would be reversed after 45 days.

FGB responds:

FGB has reversed the charges on Mr Palanichamy’s credit card and the insurance policy has been cancelled.

Mr Palanichamy updates:

Thank you very much for the follow up. I got the money back.
