Dubai UAE residents are being flooded with two things right now: iftars and car deals. So if you’re eyeing a new set of wheels, this could be the best time.
It’s been a tough year for automakers and they are leaving no stone unturned to lure potential buyers. With offers ranging from massive discounts and deferred payment plans to attractive service and warranty contracts, car dealers in the UAE are pulling out all the stops to release the maximum inventory during the peak season. What’s more? Some banks are offering zero per cent interest rates on auto loans.
“Dealerships typically rely on the holy month to move inventory, with sales historically jumping by up to 25 per cent during the period,” says Kylie Gilliam, sales director at Al Gandhi Automotive which launched an online shopping platform for Chevrolet in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah just ahead of Ramadan. The dealer is offering discounts worth Dh40,000 on its Chevrolet Corvette during the month.
No down payment
One of the UAE’s favourite brands, Toyota, is offering to pay the 20 per cent down payment on behalf of its new Camry Platinum buyers. However if you are planning to buy either a Land Cruiser or a Prado or a Rav4, you will have to pay for it only next Ramadan. This offer comes with one-year free insurance and a five-year service contract. This basically means you drive the car free for a year. Toyota dealer Al-Futtaim Motors usually has a long wait for test drives, but this year it has made the process a lot easier.
“We have reserved more vehicles for test drives to make sure our customers don’t have to wait for the drive experience,” says Jithin Gopalakrishnan, fleet adviser at Al Futtaim Motors.
Meanwhile premium car brands have also geared up to make the most of the season and are offering some lucrative deals. For instance, German automaker BMW is offering discounts worth Dh50,000 if paid fully in cash. Audi is offering zero per cent interest on select models and Jaguar is giving a two-year interest-free financing option or five per cent cash back along with five-year service and five-year warranty for its F-Type and F-Pace models. Mercedes Benz in partnership with its local dealer, Gargash Enterprises, is selling E-class models starting at Dh2,999 per month. Customers have the option to start paying the amount five months after the date of purchase. The team at Gargash expects a spike in sales given the enticing offer.
“It’s been quite a difficult period, but now we are seeing more test drive bookings for the E-class than ever before,” says Malik Bilal, senior sales consultant at Gargash Enterprises.
