ABU DHABI Lush green, tranquil and self-contained, Sas Al Nakhl Village is arguably one of the most popular family addresses in Abu Dhabi.

Located near the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium on the crossroads between Al Ain and Abu Dhabi highway, the gated community is a 20 minute drive from downtown and ten minutes to Abu Dhabi airport and Yas Island.

The Aldar-developed residential property that opened in 2010 comprises 588 three, four and five-bedroom townhouses and modern style villas.

The brick-coloured wind of shaded streets have large sun terraces and spacious backyards.

German housewife and mother of two Doreen Weinberg reckons it is one of the most beautiful communities in Abu Dhabi and is perfectly planned for family living.

“The villas are beautiful, spacious and flooded with sunlight,” said Weinberg, who has been living in the Village for nearly five years. Her three-bedroom villa has just one floor with a spacious living room, roomy balcony, a maid’s room, two parking spaces and a vast backyard.

Vibrant community

“We have a dog and we walk him in the gardens outside. Our children play in the backyard. The facilities are world class,” said Weinberg.

An indication of its popularity and reputation is the high occupancy rates. Rents for three-bedroom villas start from Dh180,000 while four-bedroom villas fetch over Dh200,000.

American expat and healthcare professional Tim said all residents are very friendly and there is a vibrant community life in the Sas Al Nakhl Village.

“It is a very lively place. In the evenings you can see people coming out for jogging, some are walking their dogs and families hang out in the green spaces,” said Tim, father of three.

“I like the place because there are lots of parks where my six-year-old daughter could play,” he said.

The epicentre of the community is a luxuriously expansive clubhouse that has a sprawling pool with sun loungers.

Residents can use a range of sporting and recreational facilities like squash courts, tennis courts, gymnasium, group exercise room, saunas and Jacuzzi.

There are weekly zumba, karate, dance and drama classes and tennis available for both children and adults.

“The best thing about living here is you don’t miss downtown at all. All the facilities like grocery, pharmacy, beauty salon are well-integrated. Also, there are plenty of activities for children,” said South African expat Sarah.
