Dubai: The Chairman of the UAE Football Association (UAE FA) has emphasised that graduates with a Master’s degree in Sports Law and Sports Management will be offered careers in the Federation or other football and sports clubs in the Emirates.
Speaking during the ‘UAE FA: Between Hope and Reality’ forum at the American University in the Emirates (AUE), Marwan Bin Ghalaita hailed the signing of a MOU (memorandum of understanding) between both sides, to share expertise critical to football, and sport in general.
“We are lucky to have the supportive leadership of our Rulers, a leadership that supports sports and the drive for sporting excellence,” he said.
“We are extremely fortunate to have state-of-the-art infrastructure for sport which is among the best in the region, if not world.
“We are currently standing on solid ground and we have legislations supported by great minds, as well as a statute that governs the work of the UAE FA.”
Al Ghalaita expressed his keenness to review and further develop sports legislations and regulations in the Federation so as to bridge all gaps and initiate a revival of renewed interest.
“We want all regulations and legislations related to the Federations to be developed and keep up with the requirements of the present time,” he told the undergraduates in attendance.
“We want our regulations to be present in your bags as students of Sports Law. We want to benefit from you and our Federation is ready to hire and accommodate Sports Law graduates.
“UAE football needs a comprehensive strategy to prepare and graduate new generations in various fields. And we are preparing to accommodate and help all graduates of Sports Law and Sports Management, especially those who see themselves as professionals and have the ability to contribute and are willing to work in the Federation or other clubs.”
Also present at the innovative forum was Prof. Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, President and CEO of the AUE, entrepreneur Abdullah Ebrahim Al Shamsi, Sports Media Association Chairman, moderator Adnan Hamad, AUE faculty members and students.
“I hope this forum will lead to constructive discussion and contribute to enhancing information and expertise and link sports reality to academic work,” he said.
“The AUE is the first educational institute in the Arab region to introduce Sports as a degree and we are working to set Sports Laws and regulations that can cope with the Emirati society as we cannot import laws from abroad.
“We must also pay more attention to Sports Marketing and Sports Psychology. Our efforts have been brought to fruition by the achievements that serve students and society alike,” Prof. Muthanna added.
“We have established an equestrian college under the name of Al Adiyat and are working to be at the forefront of innovative education as we are living in a creative country.
“The AUE’s doors are always open to initiatives like what the UAE FA have offered and we are pressing ahead by harnessing our expertise to serve sports, athletes and the community,” he concluded.
