Quote of the week: Dubai’s former coach Umberto Barberis said before his team’s last match against Al Jazira. “Our strategy is to play 90 minutes without committing mistakes.” His team conceded two goals and continued at the bottom of the standings.
Mistake of the week: Dubai Sports Channel announced after the Dubai versus Al Jazira match that the former has fired their coach Barberis and appointed Egyptian Hany Ramzy in his place. The Egyptian denied later to Abu Dhabi TV that Dubai has offered him a job and said he will refuse even if they did because the team’s condition at the moment was not conducive for any coach to achieve success.
Unsporting behaviour: Hugo Viana of Al Ahli, Carlos Munoz of Bani Yas and Matie Radoi of Al Ain all behaved badly in the Al Ahli vs Bani Yas match. Viana kicked a player who was down on the ground and Munoz butted another player without the ball. As for Radoi, he hit Al Hussain Saleh on the face and was sent off. The other two escaped the referees’ punishment but they will not escape the Disciplinary Committee.
Bad luck: Simon Feindouno, the midfielder of Ajman, was a victim of bad luck. He was injured while warming up for the match against Al Shabab and his coach had to change the player and his strategy for the match in the last minute.
Entertainer: The Al Shaab vs Emirates encounter was a thriller that ended 3-3 and the fashion in which the two teams scored their goals kept the spectators in suspense and excitement.
Goal of the week: Michel N’Dri and Mohammad Malulla, both from Al Shaab, have scored beautiful goals with a bicycle kick and a long range effort, respectively. They deserves to share the honour.
