If you were worried about what you were going to do over the summer, we have good news. The Abu Dhabi Summer Season’s packed schedule is tipped to keep the whole family busy and entertained for a whole month.
From July 20 to August 20, a diverse programme of shows and activities for all ages, including performances by comedians and Bollywood singers, are planned to take place at a number of venues across the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority announced on Tuesday.
Although the organisers are not giving away the name of the Bollywood singer who is expected to appear at the du Forum on Yas Island on August 18 to celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day, they have assured that the show and the star will be as big and amazing as last year’s.
Last year, actor and singer Farhan Akhtar marked the occasion with a performance, which was his first in the capital.
If you like comedy, Comedy Superstars on August 18 will feature a lineup of at least three renowned performers.
A two-hour Broadway-style Bollywood show Balle Balle: The Big Fat Indian Wedding, will keep the whole family entertained with songs and a fun storyline. The show, which will be performed in English, will tentatively be held in Abu Dhabi city and Al Dhafra on August 9 and 10.
Everyone’s favourite cat and mouse team, Tom and Jerry, will be performing on stage for the very first time in the GCC. The duo will have 10 performances in Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain, as well as a week-long series of events in an Abu Dhabi mall that will give children a chance to meet and interact with the cartoon characters.
Characters from popular television series Iftah Ya Simsim will also be making an appearance this summer in a special performance written for Abu Dhabi to entertain children with songs and dance routines during a series of mall appearances.
Shoppers will also get a chance to win a luxury car during Abu Dhabi Summer Season raffle. One car a week will be given away to the lucky ticket holders. There will also be 50 Abu Dhabi experience vouchers, each providing two nights stay at a five-star hotel.
