The annual Hindu festival of Onam has come and gone this year, but the celebrations aren’t over. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and actors Shobana, Remya Nambeesan and Mamta Mohandas will be in Dubai for a three-day fiesta starting September 28 at the World Trade Centre.
A series of dance performances and an exhibition of several art forms such as Chenda melam, Oppana, Margam Kali, Mohiniyattam and Kathakali will take place during these three days.
Mohanlal will make an appearance on the first day of the festival, followed by a fashion show featuring stars such as Mamta Mohan Das, Remya Nambeesan as show stoppers the next day. The final day of the event will see actress and dancer Shobana perform along with her troupe.
Tickets cost Dh40 (for the vegetarian feast Sadya) and Dh65 (performances) per day.
“Our aim is to promote South Indian culture through this event and we will have a host of art forms and shows centred around that theme,” said Sankeertana Bandaru, the organiser.
