Father and son duo Sathyaraj and Sibiraj act together after ten years in the horror comedy Jackson Durai, directed by Dharanidharan. It releases in the UAE on July 1.

While Sathyaraj plays a ghost in this period drama, set in the pre-Independence era of India, Sibiraj plays a cop.

“My character is called Bullet Satya for two reasons: one for his good shooting skills and the second since he and his Bullet [motorbike] are inseparable,” said Sibiraj, who lost 14kg for his role.

His earlier role as a cop in Tamil film Naigal Jagirthai prepared him to handle guns the right way.

Satya is sent on an investigation to a village that is being tormented by ghosts.

Dharanidharan added: “The ghosts belong to the British times with Satyaraj playing a freedom fighter and American actor Zachary [Coffin] playing a British colonel.”

Sibiraj said: “Satya is not a tough or an ambitious cop but once hooked onto something he pursues it with determination. There is an eccentricity in his style of making enquiries.”

Satya also finds time to romance a young village girl, played by Bindu Madhavi.

With Mottai Rajendran and Karunakaran in the cast, Jackson Durai promises fun.

Music is by Sidharth Vipin. Yuvraj is the cinematographer.

This is Dharanidharan’s second film. A former IT professional, Dharanidharan quit his job and studied filmmaking in New York.

Burma, his debut film was a well-received crime thriller about car thefts.
