Veteran writer-director Syed Noor is often considered as one who has managed to stay relevant through the decades. He is credited with making some of Pakistan’s most successful films such as Chooriyan, Majajan, Jeeva, Sangam and Sargam.
However, the man once dubbed the Showman, has proved people wrong.
Noor recently shocked even his loyalists when he blamed the disastrous box office result of his latest film, Chain Aaye Na, on bloggers. In a video message that went viral on social media, Noor came down hard on whom he called “self-styled critics” with vested interests. The visibly agitated director lashed out at bloggers for spreading negative word about his film. He also alleged that some of them had accepted bribes from certain elements in the industry who wanted to put him down.
This has obviously thrown the bloggers for a loop. They hit back at Noor, telling him to quit films if he can’t change his style with the changing times, and also that it is his insecurity speaking. They’ve yet to encounter him on a public forum, though.
