Actress Swara Bhaskar feels the “beauty” that one sees on screen or in magazines is “unreal”.

At a panel discussion on Career Struggles and Strategies for Women in Mumbai, the Raanjhanaa actress was asked about her perspective on beauty.

She said: “The way beauty is being approached, I’d like to put forward something bitter about it... I’m an actor, and from the very beginning, it has been my aim to enter Bollywood mainstream cinema. I think as an actor, and as a girl, the notion of beauty you’re hit with, or come face to face with, is actually quite horrifying.”

An actress who often plays characters who are more realistic, Bhaskar also commented on the cinematic projection of beauty.

“The faces we see are so true and beautiful in magazines or on screen in Bollywood, but somewhere I feel that beauty is unreal. It is perhaps photoshopped or the result of technology.

“I think beauty is a myth. So you can make your own myth. Decide for yourself what is beautiful, and whatever you like, just go by that. Don’t listen to anyone, not even your best friend,” added the actress, last seen in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
