Langres, France: Abu Dhabi Racing (ADR) junior driver Mohammad Al Mutawaa is looking forward to adding vital experience on the international platform following a strong showing on the gravel tracks of the Rallye Terre de Langres — Haute-Marne.

Co-driven by Irishman Niall Burns, Al Mutawaa returned with rich experience by coming up with the second fastest times on the first two stages run on the final day on Sunday. The rally consisted of 10 muddy stages in total, six on day one and four on the final day.

Driving a Citroen DS3 R3 run by PH Sport, the Emirati-Irish pair had made their debut at the 52nd Antibes Cote d’Azur Rally — the French Rally Championship — that was held from May 12-14.

However, over the weekend it was the Citroens making a clean sweep while clinching the top four positions when the 66-car field stopped after the final Thivet-Rolampont Stage of 12.605km.

Al Mutawaa was looking at building upon his debut event while gaining vital experience and progressing in his rallying career after a season spent in the FIA Junior Rally World Championship during the past two years.

“It was a great rally I enjoyed it a lot. We have gained new experience on muddy stages. But we did well to come back so strongly on the second day and post some really good times, 2nd quickest on SS7 and SS8, 3rd on SS9. I’m very happy with my performance and with my co-driver Niall Burns,” Al Mutawaa said.

“A big thanks to Shaikh Khalid Al Qassimi and Abu Dhabi Racing for believing in us as a team. Of course, we have a lot more to work on, and the good thing is that we are getting there slowly. I’m really happy to finish this event and now I am looking forward to our next outing in the French Championship next month,” he added.
