The second season of Coke Festival concluded recently at Royal Palm Golf & Country Club in Lahore. Hosted by Coca-Cola Pakistan, the three-day mega event especially offered a musical treat to the attendees. There were live performances by a large pool of artists — Ali Sethi, Strings, Asim Azhar, Danyal Zafar, Sahara UK, Sahir Ali Bagga, Overload, Nabeel Shaukat, and Quadrum (the percussionists). Shaukat proved to be the crowd’s most favourite. His Mohallay Wichon Kooch Na Karin was a rage.

There were other fun activities, designed for the families. But, eventually, food always wins hands down with the Lahoris. The cuisines on display were said to have been selected on the basis of the feedback from the active members on the popular food portal, Foodies ‘R Us. There was live kitchen also. Perhaps, the best part was the premium given to home cooked meal. The festival, which was attended by an estimated 30,000 people who had descended on the venue from different parts of the city, celebrated the unsung home cooks as they brought with them their “secret family recipes,” handed down through generations.

According to the organisers, Coke Festival is being expanded to five major cities of Pakistan, with promise of scores of food stalls and the biggest artists on stage. The festival’s next destination is Islamabad, which will run from December 8-10.
