Dubai: Yousuf Al Sarkal has been relieved of his post as the Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, only one month after his appointment, according to the Sharjah Sports TV.

Al Sarkal was appointed the chairman of the authority on November 8.

The 59-year old headed the post of the president of the UAE Football Association (UAE FA) for two terms, between 2004 and 2008 and most recently between 2012 and 2016.

Al Sarkal has long expertise in the sports field. He has held a number of sports and administrative posts in the country and abroad

He was the vice chairman of the Asian Football Confederation and deputy chairman of the UAE National Olympic Committee from 2009 to 2012. Al Sarkal was also the chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Shabab Al Arab Sports Club from 1991 to 1998.

He also held other positions in the Union of Arab Football Associations. 

An official source denied reports that Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, will be appointed as Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.
