Dubai: Yousuf Al Ali won the National Monthly Medal for March at Jebel Ali Golf Resort with a Stableford score of 41 over the weekend.

Playing off a handicap of 23, Yousuf collected 20 points on the front nine and 21 on the back. Mohammad Al Dabal came second on 40 points, while Abdullah Al Musharrakh finished third on 39.

Khaled Yousuf broke the amateur course record with a four under par gross 68 thanks to six birdies, an eagle and four bogeys for 32 on his front nine and 36 on his back.

“My putter was hot and I made a lot of putts from 10 to 20 feet,” he said. “With the course playing short but the winds affecting a lot of shots, it was important to keep the ball in the fairway. The shot of the day came on the par five, 18th hole when I had 232 yards for my approach shot that I hit to 15 feet. I went on to make that putt for eagle to break the record. It feels great to shoot a four-under-par round giving the amateur record to a UAE National.”

Saleh Al Ameri won Division A (0-14 handicap) with 38 points and Hamad Al Medfa took Division B (14-24 handicap) with 34.

The longest drive went to Saif Thabet and Khalid Al Shamsi won the nearest to the pin award.

In all 42 UAE golfers took part in the second event of the year. The next event will take place at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on April 28.
