Dubai: The third Dubai International Triathlon will take place in Jebel Ali this weekend, November 11-12.

Shorter distance duathlon and triathlons will be held on Friday, with the main event on Saturday. All ages and abilities will take part in the 1.9-km swim, 90-km bike and 21.1-km run event.

“The closed roads of the new venue were an extremely important factor in our decision to select Jebel Ali for this year’s triathlon festival because safety is always our number one priority,” said race director Paul Venn. “We have deliberately kept the course compact with swimmers, cyclists and runners all converging and passing through the start/finish area to make it more interesting for spectators.

“There are races for all abilities from children to beginners and advanced adults. And it’s not just about the athletes; spectators will be very well catered for with our various food trucks, retail stands and kids entertainment — we have made this weekend a celebration of sport where athletes’ family and friends can cheer on the competitors and be well looked after.”

Registration for the Tri Fest weekend is still open to individuals in age group categories and teams of two or three athletes. Corporate teams benefit from a discounted rate. Entries close on November 8. For information visit www.race-me-events.com
