Dubai: Eleven table tennis coaches gained level one International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and Paralympic Table Tennis (PTT) accreditation following a five-day course at the Deep Sports Dubai Table Tennis Academy last week.

ITTF approved coach Y.V. Pradeep conducted the 30-hour course supported by the UAE Table Tennis Association (UAE TTA) at the Business Bay facility from May 31 to June 4.

Successful participants were Katarzyna Kubas of Poland, Matej Mucha of Slovakia, Betim Sejdin of Serbia, Wiktor Gniewek of Poland and Jayaram Kokku, Pandu Ranga Rao Pilla, Bagiya Lakshmi, Prasanna Devi Subramani, Rinda Jaya Lakshmi Francis, Phillip Agnelo Chappells and Krishna Phani Kumar Gudipati, all of India.

The course consisted of theory and practice in coaching for beginners, before moving beyond basics and into tournament organisation, physical education, sports science and Paralympic considerations.

Level one is the first step in official ITTF recognition and must be gained through 30-hour course attendance and a ten minute coaching presentation. After the course 30-hours of community coaching must be completed with five-hours supervised by the course conductor.
