Dubai: The build-up to the 2015 Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens kicked off this weekend as more than 1,500 rugby fans celebrated in true sevens style at the official launch party.
Held at ‘Rugby Central’ at Emirates Golf Club, party-goers enjoyed a range of rugby sevens competitions, music, games, dancing and more, hosted by the organisers of the tournament.
Donal Kilalea, the tournament’s commercial and operations manager, said: “As the biggest sporting and social event of the year, the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens is a fantastic fun-filled weekend for those who want to enjoy the rugby, party with friends or spend the day in a true family environment.
“The launch party gave everyone a taster of what to expect at the sevens and built excitement for the big event. We are delighted with the success of the event and thanks must go to everyone who joined us at the party as well as Emirates Golf Club.”
Tickets are now on sale for the Dubai Rugby Sevens, taking place at The Sevens stadium from December 3-5. With more than 100,000 fans expected, the three-day annual extravaganza is set to be the biggest yet.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.dubairugby7s.com or at selected Costa, MMI, Go Sport and dnata outlets, Bidi Bondi, The Sevens stadium and Park n Shop.
Tickets for Thursday, December 3, are free, but for December 4 and 5 they cost Dh300 per day if purchased in advance or Dh400 if purchased at the gate. Season tickets, for both the Friday and Saturday, cost Dh500 in advance or Dh600 on the day. Children under the age of 12 go free on all days.
