Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police concluded the 27th edition of their annual Saqr Ramadan Session sports tournament at RAK Police general headquarters on Saturday.

The event, sponsored by RAK Ceramics, RAK Gym and Top Gear, is one of the UAE’s oldest, and included tug of wars, shooting, squash and arm wrestling, with more than 400 athletes involved.

Brigadier Ghanim Ahmad Ghanim, director general of RAK Police Operations, attended the prize-giving along with Brigadier Ahmad Salem Al Slomi, and said: “This session has given athletes the opportunity to exercise and interact with cultural competitions taking place in front of big audiences, especially the tug of war where the excitement reached its peak.”

Abu Dhabi Police won the tug of war, followed by Dubai Police in second and Fujairah Police in third.

Ghanim stressed the importance of continuing the championship to offer police nationwide more programmes and activities.

Lieutenant colonel Fahad Abdullah Juma’a, head of social and sports activities, praised the tournament’s success and the interaction between participants, pointing out the keenness of RAK Police to support all segments of society, including sports.

Major Ahmad Jaber Al Awadi, manager of the sports activities branch at RAK Police Club, extended thanks to sponsors and participants who contributed to the event’s success.
