Dubai: Maxtalent Global Sports had a special guest in former India batsman and successful coach Pravin Amre last week.

Amre made an express visit to Dubai to inaugurate Maxtalent Global Sports’ new cricket pitch at Al Nasr club-Karama grounds ahead of their 2015 summer outdoor Cricket Summer Camp and was pretty pleased to see the facilities there. “This is a big step ahead as the more cricket pitches you get, more matches are played and this competition will improve skill,” said Amre, who is also a patron for Maxtalent Global Sports’ India venture - Maxtalent Trust.

“For sure, the initiative undertaken by Maxtalent Global Sports, led by founder and Managing Director Sudhakar Shetty along with the support from Al Nasr Sports club, will surely help promote and nurture local talent too and pave the way for future stars of the game,” said Amre whose wards include Ajinkya Rahane, who has been India skipper for the Zimbabwe tour, along with India stars like Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik and Robin Utthapa.

The academy boys made the opportunity count and managed to get some tips from the former Head Coach of the Mumbai team for the Ranji Trophy.

“Pravin Sir showed me how to handle rising delivery and he also shared with me his Durban century on a fast pitch against quick attacking bowling. I feel more confident now playing on this new track,” said 16-year-old Atharva Inamdar, a Maxtalent Global Sports prodigy.

Maxtalent Global Sports also conducts an annual tournament in Mumbai and has played host to budding stars such as Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan. Iyer has also taken on the responsibility of becoming the MGS ambassador for their philanthropic project in Mumbai ‘Towards Being Equal,’ which strives to take cricket to underprivileged children in Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said: “As a friend, I have known Pravin Amre for a long time and he is also a patron to Maxtalent Trust, so we invited him to inaugurate both the new track and summer camp. He is currently one of the best coaches and he gells well with the trainees and coaches very easily. Surely, a lot of our aspiring trainees and coaches are inspired by Pravin’s presence as he is also currently one of India’s in-demand coach.”

The MGS 2015 summer camp includes activities like team-building games, first aid, yoga, life skill drills and fitness, besides double- and single-wicket tournaments.
