Dubai: The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens will be buoyed by the Olympic factor at the Sevens Stadium from December 1-3.

Rugby Sevens made its debut as an Olympic sport at Rio 2016 and Olympic medal holders will now compete in Dubai which is the first round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens and HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

As part of the celebration, on-pitch entertainment will include an international Tina Turner Tribute act along with the popular MC Dave Crane, Australian TV presenter Samantha Riches and the brand new DHL dancers.

The Rugby Village will be in full swing with a record number of sponsored activities for all to enjoy, the bigger and better Sabaa Sevens club means there is something for the entire family and the Virgin Radio Dubai Teen Zone is making a comeback with a number of DJ’s on the decks throughout the weekend.

From family fun to fancy dress, the party keeps on going, the minute the final whistle blows on the pitch the famous Rugby Rock comes alive which will see party-goers dance into the night to local and international bands on the stage.

The Invitation Tournament will see action on all eight pitches with a record-breaking 255 teams taking part. The success of the Netball Tournament means that a staggering 34 teams will be taking part across two sections: Gulf Women and Open Youth, as interest in the sport continues to grow in the Middle East.
