Dubai: Mohli Starlets defeated Spring Ushers comprehensively by scoring 87 runs in eight overs in the finals of the 5th Edition of the Maxtalent Super Big Bash.

Spring Ushers, batting first, posted 64 runs in eight overs with useful contributions coming from Khalid (10), Pradeep (12) and Kishore (14). In reply, Mohli Starlets played risk-free cricket and, riding on knocks from Amrit Singh (20), Osman (18) and Eldred (15), managed to pile 87 in eight overs to clinch the title comfortably.

The tournament saw around 64 players divided into two pools, and each team had to play three rounds to top the pool and figure in a final supported by maxtalentglobalsports.com and MSG Products Aktiv Nation. The Maxtalent Super Big Bash participating teams were Mohli Starlets, Thane Rangers, Cricket Tribe, Spring Ushers, Dugad Supremos, Kudus Swingers, Wada Boys and Ambadi Riders.

In the junior tournament, Stoke Warriors defeated Whitgift Heroes by a margin of 12 runs. Stoke Warriors captain Viswas Vishwajit was the Maxway best player of the day.

Sudhakar Shetty, who is the brain behind the tournament, said: “The event turned out beyond my expectations and I’m extremely happy to see parents’ commitment towards the game. It shows that the sport is still alive and it also motivates our coaches to work hard with the boys.

“I’m sure we will see the same spirit when our new training season begins this month.”

The revenue generated during the event was handed over to charity project ‘Towards being Equal’, undertaken by Maxtalent Trust in India where 25 Adivasi kids have been given an opportunity to learn the game of cricket and get an education.
