Dubai: Dubai Sports Council has announced the allocation of Dh120 million to develop sport facilities in Dubai’s clubs.

The move, which comes as per directives of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, aims to upgrade the playing and competitive environment for sports teams and to provide players and audience with a more suitable and convenient atmosphere inside clubs.

Mattar Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, extended thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Hamdan for his generous contribution to develop Dubai sports clubs and approving the budget to improve and enhance the clubs’ facilities.

The development works, which aim to upgrade Dubai’s sports sector and engage more people, are in line with the emirate’s vision to establish sustainable buildings and conduct their maintenance works in eco-friendly specifications that help provide clubs with more appropriate environment, Al Tayer added.

He further said: “The clubs’ continuous development and expansion works contribute to offer them an opportunity to benefit from the newly-constructed buildings in terms of engaging more practitioners into this field, attracting greater numbers of audience bringing new sources of revenues.

Ali Al Mutawa, Director of Corporate Resources at Dubai Sports Council (DSC), said that the club’s development projects have been implemented in collaboration with Dubai Municipality.

The council alongside the Municipality have worked together to carry out the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop Hatta Sports Club and increase their capacity to 5,000 seats so as to be able to accommodate the growing number of audience.
