Dubai: Edrees defetead Bin Drai 11-4 in the third day’s action of the Polo Masters Cup being held at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club on Wednesday.

Patron Sultan Edrees’s team achieved their second consecutive win in the tournament and with this victory increase their chances of being in the final.

After a good start by Bin Drai, Edrees took control of the game in the second period with ‘Tito’ Ruíz Guiñazú and Pierre N Goumou playing very well. With third man Ariel Ponzi scoring goals, Edrees kept increasing the gap in the third chukker for a comfortable final victory 11-4.

Edrees trailed 1-2 at the end of the opening chukker, but they did well to edge clear 4-3 at the end of the second. And with Ponzi keeping the scoreboard ticking, they were safely ahead 8-3 at the end of the penultimate period to ultimately finish with 12-4.

In the next two matches, UAE Polo will face Zedan, while Mahra will take on Wolves.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Al Habtoor, Vice Chairman, Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, has launched ‘The Polo Masters Cup’ as a new medium goal tournament with seven teams participating. The final will be held on February 15.
