Ahmad Al Kirmeli and Jaida Hammam picked up the Super Division and Ladies Open titles at the 2017 UAE Open Squash Championship presented by Al Nasr Leisureland (ANL), last week.
Al Kirmeli fought off Saad Shahid before winning 3-1 for the Super Division title, while Hammam blanked Zahab Kamal Khan 3-0 in the Ladies Open category.
Sponsored by Maximussports with support from Abdul Kader Yousuf, Executive general manager, ANL and the UAE Squash and Racquets Association (UAE SRA), attracted nearly 60 players from across the UAE at the annual competition.
Al Kirmeli won the first game, but Shahid came right back and draw level. However, Al Kirmeli moved his game a level higher and won the next two games and win the title.
The Ladies Open was clinched by 17-year-old Hammam, who easily set aside Zahab Kamal Khan who is visiting the UAE from Pakistan. Training under Asif Khan at the Stryx Squash Academy, Hammam was in total control as she got the better of the Pakistani girl who has been a regular on the tour.
CT Matthew, operations manager, ANL presented the winners with the trophies along with tournament director and chief organiser Faheem Khan.
