Dubai Jebel Ali Racecourse will continue to receive the strong support of Shadwell racing and its regular partners during the next season, it was revealed during a press conference ahead of Friday’s concluding meeting of the 2014-2015 racing season.
The popular weekend venue will stage its 11th and final card which offers Dh570,000 in total prize money and features three exciting conditions events between 1,200m to 1,800m
Mirza Al Sayegh, Shadwell Chairman, said that this had been another absorbing and satisfactory year for racing at Jebel Ali and extended his thanks to all the supporting sponsors, who have made ‘things a lot easier’ at the racecourse.
Shadwell is the global racing operation of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.
“It has been yet another successful year at Jebel Ali and Shaikh Hamdan has confirmed that Shadwell will return next season to continue as the principal sponsor and to support racing at the venue,” he said.
“Shaikh Hamdan has long been a major patron of racing around the world and in particular has assured us that he will remain committed to reinforcing the race days at Jebel Ali.”
Al Sayegh pointed out that Shadwell and its associates, Shadwell Farm, Derrinstown Stud and Derrinstown Farm, have also supported racing in the UK, France, Australia and South America.
Five of Friday’s races are sponsored by Shadwell Racing, with Jotun Paints making their debut as race sponsors at the venue.
Meanwhile Shareef Al Halwani, Manager, Jebel Ali Racecourse, thanked all the companies that have support racing at the racecourse over the past five months.
A new competition will be run at the finale as a reward for supportering the venue.
The points-based competition will be worth Dh20,000 and will run alongside the regular Pick Six competition which carries a purse of Dh62,500.
In addition valuable gifts will be presented to winners of the other competitions held on the day.
