Dubai: Globelink West Star beat Moaza Saif group of companies by 51 runs to win the inaugural Asianet Premier League (APL) at the Skyline University College ground in Sharjah.

Globelink West Star won an important toss and elected to bat first. They lost opener Jagadeesh Kundar cheaply with the score on 10, but the second wicket partnership between captain Vineeth Vishwanathan (26) and Rejas Khan (26) steadied their innings and took the score to 46 after seven overs.

Boota Mohammad picked up three crucial wickets to put the brakes on Globelink’s scoring before Hari Prasahanth (24) and Anfal (18no) helped them to reach a reasonable score of 131 for seven from their 20 overs.

In reply, Moaza had a disastrous start, losing both openers cheaply. Bilal Mohammed (22) and Ranjith Mani (10) tried to resurrect the innings, but a disciplined bowling effort from Globelink packed off the fancied Moaza batsmen and they were bowled out for just 80 in 19 overs.

Anfal Mohammad and Sharon Pinto picked up three wickets each.

Anfal of Globelink was declared the man of the final and Boota was adjudged the player of the tournament, which was held under the auspices of Sharjah Cricket Council
