Abu Dhabi: A team of Real Madrid legends featuring Roberto Carlos, Christian Karembeu and Fernando Hierro will take on a Bani Yas XI on Friday as part of the 44th UAE National Day commemorations.

The Bani Yas Elite Cup match is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at Bani Yas Stadium. Entry for the match, which kicks off at 7.30pm, is free.

The headline attractions will be the former Brazil left-back Carlos, a 2002 World Cup winner renowned for his long-range free-kicks. Ex-midfielder Karembeu, who was part of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning side, will also play alongside fellow Frenchman Claude Makelele.

Also appearing is Hierro, the former Real captain who played more than 500 games for the Spanish giants, winning three European Cups and five La Liga titles.

Meanwhile, former Bani Yas player David Trezeguet, who spent most of his career at Juventus, will represent the home side. Trezeguet was part of the France squad that won Euro 2000 in addition to the World Cup two years previously.

He will be joined by Saudi Arabian legend Sami Al Jaber, who managed Al Wahda for a short spell last season.
