Dubai: Shabab Al Ahli Dubai’s assistant coach has called on his players to believe in team work if they are to be among the top trophy contenders this season.

The newly formed outfit went down 1-2 against former champions and arch-rivals Al Ain in Round Three earlier this month, putting them in fourth ahead of Dibba with six points apiece. Al Wahda is at the top of the standings with maximum nine points from three matches followed by last year’s runners-up Al Wasl and Al Ain with seven points each.

Shabab Al Ahli Dubai has struggled to find their rhythm going without a win in their last two matches. Last week, they were held at home to a 3-3 draw by Sharjah in their Arabian Gulf Cup match despite leading comfortably 2-0.

Raducan, who has had to stand in place of coach Cosmin Olaroiu serving a two-match suspension, was confident his team has learnt a valuable lesson following last week’s split points. “Two games without a win is unacceptable for a team like Shabab Al Ahli Dubai who always have their sights on trophies,” Raducan said.

“Considering this, the match against Emirates will be very important as the players will have to go all out for full points and along with it, the return of their confidence levels. I hope our players have learnt from their experience [against Sharjah],” he added.
