Dubai: Al Wasl are in pursuit of Colombian striker Wason Renteria from Argentina’s Racing Club de Avellaneda, according to reports.

The 29-year-old former Internacional and Porto player, has had loan spells with Strasbourg, Braga and Santos, and has represented his native Colombia with four goals in 20 appearances from 2005 to 2009.

Renteria could replace Brazilian striker Caio Canedo Correa, whose loan spell at Al Wasl from Internacional is now in question after an approach from Botafogo.

Al Wasl’s Portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana and Uzbek-Brazilian midfielder Fabio de Lima, both look set to stay at Zabeel Stadium under Argentinian coach Gabriel Calderon. But Brazilian striker Ederson Silva’s loan from Atletico Paranaense has now expired, leaving Al Wasl in search of two players to complete their foreign quartet.

Elsewhere, Al Wahda have denied they are in pursuit of Egyptian midfielder Ayman Hefny for a season on loan from Zamalek worth $2 million (Dh7.4 million). The denial comes after The Clarets confirmed the purchase of Brazilian midfielder Denilson in a three-year deal for €3.2 million (Dh13.3 million) from Sao Paulo, and hired Mexican coach Javier Aguirre for one-season over the weekend.

Al Jazira have also denied that Emirati midfielder Khamis Esmail is on his way to Al Nasr. Al Ahli have been outbid on Senegalese striker Demba Ba, who is instead on the verge of joining China’s Shanghai Shenua for €14 million from Turkey’s Besiktas. Elsewhere, Al Ahli have loaned Chilean forward Carlos Munoz back to Santiago Wanderers for a year.
