Dubai: The qualifying rounds of Futsal for the annual Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament kicked off at the Al Manara Sports Hall on Tuesday.

As many as 15 teams are in the fray to decide which eight sides will advance to the main draw of the futsal competition that will be held during the month of Ramadan in mid-May.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the sixth edition of the tournament will witness some of the best international futsal players participating.

The top four teams from last year will get a direct entry into the main draw and will be joined by the top eight sides at the end of qualifying scheduled to be held till March 24.

The 15 teams have been divided into four groups with Shabab Al Ain, MKS, Rashid Team and Al Theyaba pitted in Group A, while Shabab Al Arabi, Al Qarasina, Al Saada and Al Najm comprising Group B. Group C will consist of Inthar, Al Jawareh, Dubai Team and Al Eisar, while Al Hazm, Al Fohood and Dubai Police will try and qualify from Group D.
