Abu Dhabi: Al Ain chairman Ghanim Al Hajeri has denied rumours they are about to sack their manager Zoran Mamic.

The 45-year-old Croatian took over from sacked compatriot Zlatko Dalic in January, and finished fourth in the Arabian Gulf League failing to qualify for next season’s Asian Champions League (ACL).

The Boss are also 1-0 down after last week’s ACL Last 16 first leg defeat away to Esteghlal of Iran.

Ahead of Monday’s return leg, Al Hajeri said: “There is no truth to what is circulating recently about the departure of Zoran Mamic.

“Our contract with the coach extends for a season and a half, but rumours remain part of the game.

“There are people who try to influence the club by promoting rumours. But we are happy and satisfied with the coach and the way he continues to develop this team. The management, players and fans are confident in the ability of Mamic and he is a great addition to the team.”
