A player from Nasaf Qarshi, one of Al Ahli's rivals in the AFC Champions League, scored direct from a corner in a group game this week.

Midlfielder Arthur Gevorkyan scored a spectacular Olympic goal to give his side a 2-1 win in their away clash against Tractor Sazi.

The 30-year-old player from Turkmenistan managed to find the net directly from a viciously swerving corner – his second of the game and third of the competition.

The name Olympic goal originated in 1924 when Argentina's Cesareo Onzari scored in this way against Uruguay, who had just won the Olympic title.

Nasaf now sit in second place in the Group D table with seven points, just two ahead of Al Ahli who still have to play one game.
