Sharjah: The UAE bowled out West Indies for a paltry 115 runs in a warm up match held in Harare yesterday (March 1) but lost the match by 32 runs. The UAE were bowled out for 83.

West Indies lost their openers quickly when Mohammad Naveed clean bowled Chris Gayle for 16 and then had Evin Lewis caught behind for 10.

UAE skipper Rohan Mustafa also removed Shimron Hetmyer for 20. Imran Haider dismissed the dangerous Marlon Samuels for 15. Rest of the batsmen fell for single figures with Haider returning with figures of four for 16 from eight overs. Ahmad Raza, Mustafa and Naveed took two wickets each.

UAE batting never got going from the start. West Indies pacer Kemar Roach had opener Ashfaq Ahmad caught behind for seven. Mustafa got bowled by Roach for 12 and Ghulam Shabeer too became a victim of Roach for six.

Rameez Shahzad stayed on to score 11 runs but got trapped leg before by left-arm spinner Nikita Miller. Rest of the batsmen too found Miller too hard to handle. Adnan Mufti hit 14 runs and the UAE were bowled out for 83 runs in 29 overs with Miller taking five wickets for 20 runs.

On Tuesday the UAE had lost to Nepal. A 46-run partnership between Nepal’s Aarif Sheikh and Sharad were responsible for UAE defeat in the warm-up match. The match was delayed due to wet-outfield and the total overs were reduced to 29 per side.

The UAE posted a total of 171 runs in 28.5 overs losing the last five wickets for only six runs in the final two overs.

The UAE opening batsman Ashfaq Ahmad top scored with 42 runs. He had scored a century against Nepal in ICC World Cricket League Division Two playoff final. Shaiman Anwar fell 16 runs but Ghulam Shabeer chipped in with 32 runs.

Nepal reached the target in 28.2 overs.
