Dubai Brazilian forward Jociel Ferreira Da Silva is out of Al Ahli’s plans for the second half of the season, according to Al Ahli chief executive officer Ahmad Khalifa Hammad.

Ciel suffered a double ankle fracture in a 1-0 away win over Sharjah on the opening day of the season but despite returning to training this week, Hammad said he still wouldn’t feature in the club’s foreign quartet. “Ciel is a club player but he’s out of the list,” said Hammad. “He’s only recently fit and back to training. The winter break is short and I don’t think there is enough time to get him back in shape for the first match on February 4 [at home to Sharjah].”

Al Ahli will instead register new Moroccan winger Oussama Assaidi, along with Ciel’s replacement Carlos Munoz, Grafite and Luis Jimenez. However, Hammad admitted the club could still look to make amendments to their final foreign four, signalling the end of someone’s stay.

“We don’t know about the future,” he said. “But we are always looking to improve the team by signing new players, that’s how we work. We will wait and see until February, maybe something will happen before the end of the transfer window, we don’t know what will happen.”
