Dubai: Tennis management company Peter Burwash International (PBI) has announced the promotion of René Zondag to serve as the company’s new president, effective April 1.
“It is such a pleasure to announce this appointment,” noted Peter Burwash, who founded PBI in 1975.
“René Zondag’s contributions to our company over the last 19 years have been exceptional and there is no one more uniquely qualified to take on this position. He has been instrumental in PBI’s growth wherever he has served, exemplifying our core service standards, developing new PBI programmes and enhancing our existing programmes for our client facilities, guests and members,” the statement added.
Zondag has most recently served as PBI’s Vice President for the Middle East, Europe and Asia, overseeing the company’s programmes, professionals and growth in these regions.
He started his career with PBI in 1997 and directed PBI tennis programmes at resorts and tennis camps in Austria, Germany, Italy and the Canary Islands before his assignment to the UAE.
In his new position, Zondag will be in charge of PBI’s global growth and operations, including the company’s tennis programmes at five-star resorts and clubs in 32 countries.
“It is an absolute honour to be chosen to follow in Peter Burwash’s footsteps as President of PBI. Although what Peter has done cannot be equalled, the principles and knowledge he has passed on over so many years will still serve to guide this wonderful company into the next era,” Zondag said.
