Dubai: She may have been the world's top women's singles tennis player, but Caroline Wozniacki sees a hidden golfer within her.

"I wish it [my handicap] was better. I think in my mind that it's good, but then actually it's not really good, so it gets pretty frustrating. My putting is probably the best part of my game, but my drive is a disaster," Wozniacki, who has been dating champion golfer Rory McIlroy, told the media here earlier this week.

Wozniacki and golfer McIlroy met at a boxing match in July last year and this meeting bloomed into one of sport's latest high-profile couple in less than a year. The two feed off each other in their sports ambitions and careers. "I know how to play. I don't know how to coach. I think he [McIlroy] feels a bit the same way, but he can hit the tennis ball pretty well, especially with the forehand," she said.

"I think his tennis is better than my golf for the moment. I think I have better potential of being a better golfer than he has as a tennis player. But I think that I still need some time," Wozniacki said.

And though she has not played 18 holes as yet, Wozniacki thinks she has the potential, at least with some assistance, to better her game on the greens.

Wozniacki finds a lot of similarities between tennis and golf. "I think they're similar because it's an individual sport and it's the same kind of pressure. You need to be focused. It's a very mental game — more in golf I think than in tennis."
