Abu Dhabi: Novak Djokovic lived up to his 'Djoker' nickname by dancing on court to 'Gangnam Style' with an exuberant fan at the US Open in New York on Wednesday night.

The world number one was celebrating his comfortable passage into the third round of the event, after dispatching Austria's Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-4 6-1,6-2 on Arthur Ashe court.

As he was being interviewed by former player and coach Brad Gilbert, his attention was drawn to a fan gesturing to him from the stands.

The fan then proceeded to leap enthusiastically onto the court and engaged in a dance-off to rapper Psy's 2012 smash hit with the Serb, who seemed perfectly happy to participate.

"I'm glad that he came down to the court. It was not planned," Djokovic said in his post-match press conference, adding that he's seen the fan at his matches for the past five years.

"He's a true entertainer. Each year I see him in one of my matches, dancing, taking down the layers of the T-shirts. But, you know, it never gets old."

It's not the first time Djokovic has displayed his penchant for dancing after matches.

He last strutted his stuff with fellow Wimbledon champion Serena Williams when the pair bopped to the BeeGees' disco classic 'Night Fever' at the Champions' Dinner in July
