The top three seeds in the boy’s competition advanced to the final stage of qualifying at the Second UAE Fujairah Junior Cup that kicked off at the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club (FTCC) on Saturday.
Top-seeded Antonio Muniz Hidalgo of Spain, second seed Pavel Ognev of Russia and third seed Andrija Pavlovic of Switzerland all advanced with comparatively easy wins against Bharath Nishok Kumaran, Anirudh Vadlamani and Siddharth Raghunathan respectively in their first round of qualifiers held on Saturday.
Hidalgo defeated Kumaran 6-3, 6-3, Ognev got the better of Vadlamani 6-2, 6-0 and Pavlovic tamed Raghunathan 6-1, 6-0 to advance. Hidalgo will now meet Yusuke Tamaki of Japan, Ognev will take on Iraklis Gerousis from Greece and Pavlovic will play against Henri Ohl of Germany. A win will see all three advancing to the main draw of the competition that is scheduled to get under way at the FTCC from Monday and go on till the final on November 5.
