Qatar Open champions reach Dubai semis
Huber and Raymond continue fine form in women's doubles with straight-sets victory
Dubai: Top seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond continued their good form when they became the first pair to enter the doubles semi-finals at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships here yesterday. Last week's Qatar Open champions did well to ease their way past Anabel Medina Garrigues and Alicja Rosolska 6-3, 6-3.
The pair have never played together in Dubai, although Huber has won four doubles titles here, and going on current form this could well be a first final for fellow American Raymond.
A rest day today means they can prepare for their semi-final against either Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears or the fourth-seeded Nuria Llagostera Vives and Anastasia Rodionova.
On Tuesday, second seeds Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina eased their way into the quarters with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Oman's Fatima Al Nabhani and Andreja Klepac.
Third-seeded Daniela Hantuchova and Agnieszka Radwanska fell 6-3, 6-4 to Shuai Peng of China and Chinese Taipei's Su-Wei Hsieh to set a meeting with Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
