Dubai: The UAE Padel Association (UAE PA) has taken the first steps towards consolidating the base of padel in the UAE by hosting more than 150 students from various Dubai schools on Wednesday.

The students were specially invited by UAE PA, the organisers of the inaugural Dubai Padel Masters, to give the youngsters a taste of a sport that is comparatively new to the region.

The students were taken around the Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Complex by the in-house coaching team led by Sandy Farquharson. The NAS coaches then gave the students a brief demonstration of how Padel is played, after which the youngsters were given the opportunity to try their hand on the outdoor padel court.

The children were then ushered into the main playing arena to watch live action of the fourth day’s play of the Dubai Padel Masters after play commenced at the NAS Sports Complex.

“This is an experience that these children will remember for a lifetime. I see these kids as possible future padel players for the UAE and it is but right to give them a proper orientation,” Mohammad Al Mutaiwe’e, second vice-president of UAE PA, told Gulf News.

“There is no better thing than inspiring these youngsters with an actual atmosphere of competition and perhaps one day we will have some of them grow up playing padel for the UAE,” he added.
