Dubai: Organisers of the inaugural Dubai Padel Masters have opened the registration process for the premier Padel competition on the World Padel Tour (WPT) that is scheduled to be held at the end of October.

Khalifa Yousuf Al Khoury, Vice President, UAE Padel Association (UAE PA) disclosed that the registration process for the weeklong competition scheduled to be held at the NAS Sports Complex will be open from October 1.

Organised by the UAE PA, the Dubai Padel Masters is one of five Master events on the 2015 calendar of the WPT. This season’s calendar consists of ten Open tournaments, five Master events, four Challengers and the season-ending Master Final in Madrid, Spain in the second half of December.

The qualifying for the Dubai Padel Masters commenced at the Sanset Padel Club in Madrid in the final week of September with four pairs in the men’s and women’s sections each advancing to the second stage to be held at the NAS Sports Complex on October 25.

The second stage of qualifiers for the Dubai Padel Masters will be held on three days, October 22, 23 and 24 before the start of the main draw at the NAS Sports Complex. Only four pairs will go through and qualify for the play-offs at the end of three days at the NAS Sports Complex.

These four pairs will join the four pairs from the Madrid qualifiers and play a one-off match to decide which final four pairs advance to the main draw of the Dubai Padel Masters starting from October 25. The final will be played on October 31, after which the players will head to the San Sebastian Open from November 2 to 8.

“For the past three years, we have hosted some of the finest Padel players in Dubai for the annual NAS Padel Championships. With this in mind we are expecting the best of the best from across the world to confirm their participation for the Dubai Padel Masters,” Al Khoury noted.

“The race is on to decide the best of the best pairs who are in the fray to enter the season finale in Madrid in December. Since the Dubai Padel Masters is the second last stop on the Master circuit there will be a lot at stake as players try to earn vital points and make it to the Madrid Master Final,” he added.

The pairings of Gonzalo Rubio/Aris Patiniotis, Lucas Cunha/Toni Bueno, Raul Diaz Garcia/Raul Marcos Duran and Juan Cruz Belluati/Ignacio Gonzalez Gadea all made it through in the men’s section, while Alicia Berl/Patricia Mowbray, Gabriela Bartomioli/Isabel Dominguez, Lilian Ramos/Angela Caro and Andrea Jareno/Tamara Icardo earned their tickets to the Dubai Padel Masters in the women’s draw.
