Organisers have been putting final touches to preparations for the successful staging of the inaugural edition of The Legends Rock Dubai tennis exhibition next week.

"Nearly everything is in order to stage such a prestigious event involving some of the world's greatest tennis icons right here in Dubai," stated Farbod Dowlatshahi from organisers, Delwood Consultancy Services.

The Legends Rock Dubai will be held at a specially set-up indoor tennis court at the Madinat Jumeirah from November 8-10.

The seven-member field of players will be led by the legendary Bjorn Borg, who has chosen Dubai to make a comeback from retirement. "Borg using Dubai to make a comeback ... that's arguably the most exciting part for any tennis fan," Dowlatshahi stated.

Others confirmed for the Dubai act are Ilie Nastase, Vijay Amritraj, Michael Stich, Mansour Bahrami, Guy Forget and Henri Leconte.

The Legends Rock Dubai will be held along side the Mirage Promotions-organised farewell concert of Phil Collins and his charity organisation, The Little Dreams Foundation.

"We are so excited about this event. To have such legendary players amongst us would be like a dream come true for any tennis fan," Dowlatshahi added.

The Legends Rock Dubai will consist of three days of tennis including a Damac-sponsored Kids' Day on November 8 to mark the opening. "All the players have confirmed their arrival in Dubai and we are very excited about it.

"We have managed to put most of things we need in order. Surely, we want this to be among the best sporting events ever held in the UAE," Dowlatshahi said.

"And there are 15 to 20 people working around the clock to ensure this."
