Dubai: Russian World number three Svetlana Kuznetsova powers past French Amelie Mauresmo, on Thursday to reach the semifinals of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.
Kuznetsova defeated Mauresmo in a straight set 6-1, 7-6 victory in the quarterfinal match.
In Thursday's other result, Serbian Jelena Jankovic has progressed to the semifinal after beating her competitor, Russian Anna Chakvetadze 6-1 in the first set of their quarterfinal match. Chakvetadze retired with an injury after she lost the first set.
